I admit it, I was dragged into poetry kicking and screaming. At SUNY Delhi my advisor was a tall nubian goddess who believed she knew everything. In retrospect, I now see that she did.
With her rock solid cheek bones and long neck held aloft she said quite sternly, "If you want to be a writer, you must study poetry!"
I replied, in no uncertain terms, "Noooooooooooooo! Poetry will cut off my cahones! I'll never make it into the Hemingway club!" But she dragged me there anyways, and soon I discovered that nothing takes greater cahones than the matter of writing poetry, and it was kinda fun besides.
Hem be damned.

The Writher JD McDonnell
rout. rout.
around and about.
squirms the worm
with the glassy skin.
toss and turn
hellfire friend
on, writhe on.
a cage. a stage.
a face in rage
suspended above
a burning page,
stung into fury
by the bloomage of flame.
on, writhe on.
kiss. kiss.
it kisses about
a moistened snout.
in frenzy to find
some direction out.
heedless of time
and dulling distractions,
deft of death
and even
stout doubt.
it writhes,
it writhes,
on and on
but not always out.
on, writhe on.

What's Up with the Site.
What's nice about the websites I create is that they don't need me around to make them interesting - they need you and you have been here.
And for that I thank you immensely.
But this begs to question. Where have I been?
I have been off writing a novel for at least six months now. It's the first in a trilogy of fantasy novels which I am under a self-imposed deadline to have finished in its entirety by next November (meaning it will be done some time in early January).
What does this mean for DigitalVerse.org? Well, despite the appearance this is a hobby. It's not a business. It will continue on as is, but it will be quite a while before I get around to concocting anything new for it.
With this said, it doesn't mean I've completely switched off. If you run into any problems or if something on the site is malfunctioning - write me, and I will find the time to fix it.
